Delhi Water Crisis: Capital To Face 16-Hour Fresh Water Supply Disruption; See List Of Areas To Be Affected

The national capital is experiencing occasional water shortages due to ongoing maintenance activities. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a 16-hour water supply disruption in several parts of Delhi on Tuesday, October 1, and Wednesday, October 2. This interruption is due to essential repair work, and residents are advised to use water wisely during this period.

According to the DJB's statement, the water supply will be halted because of significant repairs on the 1100 mm diameter header line. This line feeds into the 1100 mm diameter West Delhi Main and the 1200 mm diameter Pitampura Main within the Haiderpur Phase-I Water Treatment Plant premises. The affected areas will experience either no water or low pressure from 10 am on October 1 until 2 am on October 2.

Areas Affected by Water Disruption

The following areas will be impacted by the water supply disruption: Varun Niketan, Raja Garden, Ramesh Nagar, Khyala, Rani Bagh, Moti Nagar, Shanta Puri, Tagore Garden, Rajouri Garden, Tilak Nagar, Hari Nagar and nearby regions. Residents in these locations should prepare for potential inconveniences due to the maintenance work.

The DJB has issued an advisory urging residents in these areas to use water judiciously during this time. They recommend storing enough water in advance to avoid any inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption. The maintenance shutdown may affect daily routines and disrupt water availability for both households and businesses.

Water Tanker Service Available

To manage the impact of this scheduled maintenance work, the DJB has arranged for water tankers to be available on demand. Residents can request this service by contacting the DJB helpline or central control room. This initiative aims to alleviate some of the inconvenience caused by the temporary stoppage of water supply.

The DJB advises residents to stay informed about the situation and take necessary precautions such as storing water ahead of time. By doing so, they can minimise any disruptions caused by this maintenance activity.

This planned maintenance is crucial for ensuring long-term efficiency and reliability of Delhi's water infrastructure. While it may cause short-term inconvenience, it is essential for maintaining a stable supply in future.
