Delhi shivers under severe cold; airways, trains stalled with low visibility
New Delhi, Jan 8: Temperatures in New Delhi have dipped to a new low with several areas blanketed by heavy fog. Air traffic and railways have been hit hard with the sudden dip in temperatures and near-zero visibility here.
With the runway visibility dropping to less than 50 metres at the Delhi airport, 10 international flights have been delayed while one has been rescheduled as heavy fog disrupted transport in the country.
Some of the other states that endured testing climate include Himachal. Kullu specially is likely to go below zero degrees. Cold wave conditions can be found at Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. West and East Madhya Pradesh also experienced dense fog at isolated places on Thursday.
Meanwhile, two more homeless people have been found dead close to a shelter in Delhi-one a 30-year old man and another a 85-year old man.
