Delhi's first adventure park thrown open to public

New Delhi, Dec 16: Delhi's first adventure park was today inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in Mayur Vihar area of east Delhi.

Running parallel to Sanjay Lake, the park -- Every Other Day -- was thrown open to visitors today and according to the authorities, it has something to offer for every age group.

The joint project of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Tourism was initiated in the year 2008. "It's high time we, as parents, set our children free and let them explore.

The idea behind setting up this adventure park was to help a child grow as a fearless person, one who is not afraid of taking risks," Sisodia said.

The park, spread over an area of 6.3 acres, offers soft adventure activities including water sports, tree house course, archery and many more.

"This place has something to offer to every age group, be it children or adults and in fact for the senior citizens as well.

From the tree-top, to small obstacle course for children, we have introduced the first-of-its-kind paddle rafts here," a senior DDA official said.

"The best thing about this park is that not even one tree was cut for its construction. In fact, 150 new tress have been planted here," he said. On the lakeside, visitors have an option of choosing a two-seater or a multi-seater raft boat that can carry up to 15 people.

Also, a jungle house especially designed for children up to the age of 12 years has been set up. It has exciting activities, like spiderman's nest, monkey way, lion's den etc.

"Delhi Tourism Department is proud to introduce this soft-adventure park where an ordinary citizen of the capital can visit and have a totally different experience from the busy city life. We are going to construct such parks in other locations as well," Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said.
