Delhi Polls 2025: 8 AAP MLAs Join BJP A Day After Tendering Resignation

8 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs joined BJP on Saturday, a day after tendering mass resignation. These MLAs, including Girish Soni, BS Joon, Naresh Yadav, Rajesh Rishi, Bhawna Gaur, Madan Lal, Pawan Sharma and Rohit Mehraulia, cited corruption and deviation from founding principles as reasons for their departure. They expressed disappointment with the party's direction and shared their resignation letters publicly.

These MLAs switched to the saffron front in the presence of Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and other office bearers.

Kasturba Nagar MLA Madan Lal, replaced by Ramesh Pehelwan, voiced his loss of faith in Arvind Kejriwal and AAP. "I lost faith in Arvind Kejriwal and the party... The party which was formed with the promise to wipe out corruption in Delhi is now committing corruption... We had to resign one day... The seven of us discussed among ourselves and decided to tender our resignation today, as we thought it was the perfect time," he stated.

Reasons Behind Resignations

Lal mentioned that not receiving tickets for upcoming elections contributed to their decision. He claimed that AAP removed dedicated members while favouring candidates with criminal records. "You can say it was one of the reasons because the party removed those who worked for their constituency but gave tickets to candidates with criminal backgrounds and multiple FIRs against them... They dropped over 20 MLAs, and the new candidates are not doing well; they are not going to win... They took money in exchange for tickets... We don't want to be in a party that is corrupt, thinking only about its political ambition and not the people," Lal explained.

In his resignation letter addressed to Arvind Kejriwal, Lal expressed his disillusionment with AAP's leadership. "I hereby resign from the primary membership of the AAP as I have lost faith in you and the party..." he wrote.
