Delhi Police Issues Traffic Guidelines for Upcoming IPL Match
In anticipation of the upcoming IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Delhi Police has released a comprehensive traffic advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement and enhance spectator convenience. The match, scheduled for Saturday, has prompted specific traffic diversions and restrictions, particularly on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg.

According to the advisory issued on Thursday, significant traffic management measures will be in place. Commuters are advised to avoid Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg from Delhi Gate to ITO Chowk and JLN Marg from Rajghat to Delhi Gate between 5 PM and 8 PM on the day of the match. These measures are aimed at facilitating an orderly flow of traffic and ensuring safety for all road users during the event.
Stadium Entry Points and Parking Facilities
For those attending the match, entry to the stadium will be organized through various gates. Spectators can enter through gate numbers 1 to 8 from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, gate numbers 10 to 15 from JLN Marg adjacent to Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal, and gate numbers 16 to 18 from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near the petrol pump. To accommodate spectators' vehicles, free parking along with park and ride facilities will be available at Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road, and Velodrome Road. It is important to note that there will be no parking available for the general public in close proximity to the stadium, with limited parking spaces reserved exclusively for vehicles bearing specific labels. Displaying a car parking label on the windscreen is mandatory for access to these reserved spaces.
Shuttle and Park and Ride Services
To further assist spectators in reaching the stadium with ease, shuttle services will be operational for those coming via metro at ITO Metro Station and Pragati Maidan Metro Station. Additionally, park and ride facilities will be provided from Mata Sundari Parking for gates number 1 to 8 and 16 to 18, as well as from Rajghat Power House Road and Velodrome Road for gates number 9 to 15. Buses from these park and ride locations, as well as shuttle sites, will commence their services two hours before the match starts and continue until one hour after the match begins. Post-match, bus services back to these designated points will start immediately after the game concludes and run for an hour thereafter.
The Delhi Police's advisory underscores their commitment to ensuring a hassle-free experience for cricket fans attending the match while maintaining traffic orderliness in the city. Spectators are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and make use of the provided facilities for an enjoyable match day experience.
