Delhi Police road accident: Pregnant constable seriously injured near South Campus, autorickshaw driver arrested

Delhi Police said a pregnant constable was seriously injured in a road accident near Motilal Nehru College in South Campus. Police responded to a PCR call, found a damaged autorickshaw and a loading tempo, and later received an AIIMS Trauma Centre medico-legal case report. The autorickshaw driver has been arrested.

An autorickshaw driver has been arrested after a pregnant Delhi Police constable suffered serious injuries in a crash near Motilal Nehru College on South Campus, an official said on Tuesday. Police registered a case after the constable later gave a statement. Investigators also seized the vehicles involved and continued to examine the events leading to the collision.

Police said the injured constable, Dzuthotalu Rhakho, is posted in the Security Unit. Dzuthotalu Rhakho recorded a statement on April 5. Dzuthotalu Rhakho said the crash happened while travelling from the Security Line to Munirka with two colleagues. The statement formed the basis for legal action in the matter.

Delhi Police road accident probe near South Campus

According to police, a PCR call about the accident reached the South Campus police station on April 2. An investigating officer went to the spot soon after. The officer found a damaged autorickshaw on the road. A loading tempo was standing ahead of it on the roadside, police said.

Both drivers were at the location when police arrived, the officer said. Police identified them as Vijender Singh of Jaitpur and Aditya Kumar of Chhawla. However, police did not find any complainant at the scene. Police later gathered medical and other records to confirm the details of the incident.

Delhi Police road accident case after AIIMS Trauma Centre MLC

Police said they later received information about a medico-legal case linked to the crash. The MLC was reported from the AIIMS Trauma Centre. Police identified the injured person as Dzuthotalu Rhakho, a resident of Munirka village. At that stage, Dzuthotalu Rhakho was found unfit to provide a statement, police said.

In the statement given on April 5, Dzuthotalu Rhakho described how the crash occurred. Dzuthotalu Rhakho said a loading tempo in front stopped suddenly. The autorickshaw then hit the tempo, according to the statement. Dzuthotalu Rhakho also said the autorickshaw was driven rashly and negligently.

Delhi Police road accident arrest and vehicle seizure

Police said Dzuthotalu Rhakho suffered a knee injury in the incident. Based on the complaint, police registered a case, the officer said. Vijender Singh, the autorickshaw driver, was arrested. Police also seized the autorickshaw and the loading tempo. Further investigation into the case remained underway, police said.
