Delhi police nabs burglar who used to target only elite to fund his lavish lifestyle

Siddharth Mehrotra who hails from a well-to-do family, was arrested along with two other accomplices by Police on Monday for involving in several high-profile burglaries in Vasant Kunj area of Delhi.

Mehrotra is a graphic designer by day and a thief by night. He is used to only target the houses of politicians, bureaucrats, government officers and businessmen. His victims include an ex-MP and a sub-divisional magistrate, said police.

The accused was caught by the police only after tracking him down on Facebook after he uploaded photos on Leh rip with his friends.

Since February this year, Mehrotra had burgled 18 flats in Vasant Kunj, all of them located on the ground floor as they allowed him to get away easily if detected.

Police said that they also checked criminal records and dossiers of previously arrested burglars. While doing a background search on Mehrotra police said found out that he was arrested by Noida Police in 2015. Police have seized the Chevrolet Cruze, laptops, gold bangles, earrings, gold chains and gold rings from his possession.
