Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory For New Years 2025

Delhi Police has announced a traffic advisory for New Year's Eve in the capital, focusing on areas like Connaught Place. A senior officer mentioned that traffic personnel will be deployed in significant numbers at key locations, including markets and malls, where celebrations are expected.

Restrictions will start from 8 PM on Tuesday around Connaught Place and last until the celebrations conclude. This applies to both private and public transport vehicles, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dhal Singh.

Traffic Restrictions and Parking Arrangements

Vehicles won't be allowed towards Connaught Place beyond several key points such as Mandi House, Bengali Market, and Gole Market. Only those with valid passes can access the inner, middle, or outer circles of Connaught Place.

Motorists can park at designated areas like Gole Dak Khana, Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road behind AIR, and Mandi House on Copernicus Marg up to Baroda House. Limited parking is available near Connaught Place on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Enforcement Measures and Alternative Routes

The police will take strict action against drunken driving, overspeeding, stunt biking, reckless driving, zig-zagging, and dangerous driving. Unauthorised parked vehicles will be towed away and prosecuted.

Elaborate arrangements are in place around India Gate for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic regulation. In case of heavy pedestrian movement, vehicles might be diverted from C-Hexagon and other nearby areas.

Public Transport Recommendations

Visitors are encouraged to use public transport due to limited parking space at India Gate. With large gatherings anticipated at Delhi Zoo causing congestion on Mathura Road, motorists should avoid Bhairon Road/Mathura Road between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Pragati Maidan.

The police have made special arrangements around Connaught Place as a large crowd is expected for New Year's Eve celebrations. The focus will be on ensuring smooth traffic flow while maintaining safety standards across the city.
