Delhi Police Intensifies Investigation into Hoax Bomb Threats Affecting Domestic and International Flights
Delhi Police have intensified their investigation into false bomb threats targeting various flights. On Thursday, they requested information from social media platforms about accounts that posted these threats. An FIR was filed on Wednesday regarding a bomb threat to an Akasa Air flight heading to Bengaluru with 180 passengers. Additionally, investigations are underway for seven other similar incidents reported at Indira Gandhi International Airport this month.

A special team has been established to handle these bomb threat cases. The cyber cell of Delhi Police, along with the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO), is involved in the investigation. On Wednesday, police requested social media platforms to suspend the accounts responsible for the threatening messages and to remove the posts.

Authorities suspect that the individual behind these threats used a VPN or dark web browser to create multiple accounts on X and post the messages. To trace the IP addresses, police have reached out to the social media platform. They have also contacted Mumbai Police, who have registered an FIR related to this issue.
Deputy Commissioner of Police IGI, Usha Rangnani, stated that airport police responded to eight bomb threat incidents this month. After thorough checks, all threats were deemed hoaxes. "Legal action has been initiated against those responsible for these false alarms so that strict measures are taken against them, and to ensure the safety and security of passengers and airport operations," she said.
The ongoing investigation aims to identify those responsible for these hoaxes and ensure passenger safety. By collaborating with social media platforms and other police departments, Delhi Police hope to prevent further incidents and maintain airport security.
