Delhi Police Files Case Against Congress Over AI-Generated Video of PM Modi’s Mother

The Delhi Police has registered a case against the Congress party and its IT Cell over an AI-generated video depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother Heeraben. The video, shared on September 10 by Bihar Congress, has drawn sharp criticism from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The FIR, lodged at North Avenue Police Station following a BJP complaint, accuses Congress of insulting PM Modi's mother and, by extension, women across India.

Details of the Controversial Video

The video was posted with the caption in Hindi: "Ma appears in Sahab's dreams. Watch the interesting dialogue."
In the clip, a Modi look-alike is shown going to bed after "vote theft," followed by a dream sequence where a woman resembling his mother questions his use of her name for political purposes.

Political Context

The incident comes days after reports of derogatory slogans about Modi's mother during a Congress-RJD rally in Bihar. PM Modi condemned those remarks, saying voters would not forgive such behaviour.

BJP Reaction

The BJP's official X (Twitter) account accused Congress of crossing limits:
"First, abuses were hurled from the Congress-RJD stage. Now, an AI video has been made. How much lower will you stoop?"

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey called the video evidence of a "deplorable mindset," recalling how Modi has long endured personal insults despite his humble origins.

Congress Response

Congress leaders defended the video as a satirical portrayal of parental advice, but acknowledged concerns and announced an internal inquiry into its production.
