In a joint operation, Delhi Police Special Cell and Haryana Police successfully arrested a wanted criminal, Shakir alias Janu, in Nuh. According to an officer involved in the operation, Shakir was intercepted while traveling on a motorbike by a joint team of Delhi and Haryana police. Upon being signaled to stop and surrender, Shakir attempted to flee by firing at the police team. In self-defense, the police retaliated, resulting in Shakir sustaining bullet injuries in both of his legs.
Criminal Background and Rewards
Shakir was allegedly involved in the murder of a Delhi Police head constable and had also fired at the residence of a Haryana legislator. Consequently, he was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) in two cases in Delhi and carried a reward of Rs 10,000 for his arrest.
Coordination and Trap
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Pratiksha Godara, revealed that specific information regarding Shakir's whereabouts in the Tauru area was received, prompting a swift coordination with the local police of Nuh. A joint trap was meticulously set up at the location where Shakir was spotted riding a motorcycle.
