Delhi Police Arrest Two After Snatching Spree of 26 Phones in Four Hours
Two men have been apprehended for allegedly snatching 26 mobile phones within a span of four hours, according to police reports on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shahdara Surendra Choudhary stated, "The mission of the accused -- Shahrukh and Asif -- was to snatch 26 mobile phones from 26 different locations in Delhi."

The arrest followed an investigation into a snatching incident involving motorcycle riders on the Geeta Colony flyover on August 8, reported by a woman. After reviewing footage from 650 CCTV cameras, a trap was set near the flyover, leading to the capture of the suspects, as per the DCP.
Details of the Accused
During interrogation, the two men revealed their next mission was titled "Ab Tak 56," Choudhary mentioned. Shahrukh has a criminal history with over 23 cases of robbery, snatching, and theft. He was released from jail in November last year.
Shahrukh is skilled in high-speed bike riding and needed a partner adept at snatching. He then met Asif, who required money to cover his girlfriend's expenses, according to the DCP.
Additional Arrests and Operations
Based on further information provided by the suspects, another individual named Rizwan, aged 40, was also arrested. Rizwan used to sell the stolen items and had previously been involved in six cases related to murder, arms act violations, and theft.
The accused disclosed that they would first steal a bike and then use it for snatching activities. After committing the crime, they would hide in remote areas for 10-15 days to evade capture, DCP Choudhary explained.
This case highlights the extensive efforts by law enforcement to track down and apprehend individuals involved in such criminal activities. The use of technology like CCTV footage played a crucial role in solving this case.
The police continue to investigate further connections and potential accomplices involved in these crimes. The swift action taken by the authorities has prevented further incidents and brought these criminals to justice.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety.
