A 55-year-old woman and her 30-year-old daughter were found dead on Friday from bogies of a train stationed at Shahdara Railway Station in Delhi.

Maya belonged to Mathura and her daughter Nishu was married to Pushpendra of Yakubpur in Bulandshhar. The mother, a widow, lived with the family of her son-in-law in Yakubpur.

The incident came to fore when an RPF personnel who was patrolling the route entered S-3 coach to find a woman lying dead on a seat. Soon, he came across another woman in S-4 coach. He immediately alerted his superiors after which police were informed.

The bodies were found in two coaches of Mahananda Express plying between Delhi and Alipurduar (West Bengal). The train had been stationed at Shahdara due to disrupted rail traffic caused by floods in Bihar.

Police said the mother-daughter duo was found dead suggested they were murdered. The women were neither sexually assaulted, nor were they robbed. The suspected murders appear to be the handiwork of someone known to them, the police said. However, an angle of suicide is also being probed.
