Arvind Kejriwal Launches 'The Delhi Model' Book on AAP's Governance Approach

Arvind Kejriwal, the former chief minister of Delhi, introduced a book titled "The Delhi Model" on Sunday. This book highlights the transformative governance strategies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kejriwal described it as more than a governance guide, emphasising its reflection of AAP's distinctive political approach to addressing key issues affecting ordinary citizens.

Kejriwal Launches The Delhi Model Book

The book delves into various reforms through data, narratives, and policy insights. It illustrates how the AAP government fulfilled its promise of systemic transformation, known as Vyavastha Parivartan. Kejriwal stated that it embodies both the Delhi governance model and AAP's political style.

Focus on Fundamental Issues

Kejriwal explained their focus on solving basic problems in people's daily lives. He noted that people require education for their children, healthcare when sick, government support during inflation, and access to free electricity and water. The AAP national convener stressed their efforts to address these essential needs.

He also mentioned a past narrative advocating for school privatisation. It was suggested that corporate groups would manage schools for charitable purposes. However, Kejriwal argued this was a land scandal since government schools occupied prime locations in Delhi.

Political Landscape and Candidate Selection

Kejriwal claimed that earlier elections were influenced by caste and religion. However, when selecting candidates for Delhi, the party prioritised performance over caste considerations. This marked a shift in political dynamics according to him.

The book's author, Jasmine Shah, who is also a party member, expressed excitement about the launch. Shah remarked on the significance of writing a book, stating, "This is a very special occasion: the launch of my first book. After writing just one book, I can tell you one thing — you need a really good reason to write a book."

Kejriwal highlighted concerns about potential misuse of land where government schools stood. He suggested that instead of improving schools, there were plans to build other structures on these lands. This issue was part of broader discussions around education reform and land use.

The book serves as both an exploration of governance and a reflection of AAP's political ideology. It aims to provide insights into how the party has addressed fundamental issues impacting citizens' lives in Delhi.
