Delhi Minister Believes SC Will Enable Kejriwal to Campaign for Lok Sabha

As the political landscape of India remains under intense scrutiny, a significant development unfolds with Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj expressing confidence in the Supreme Court's forthcoming decision regarding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea. The plea challenges his arrest in connection with a money laundering case tied to the alleged excise policy scam. This case has garnered widespread attention, not only for its implications on Kejriwal's political career but also for its potential impact on the democratic processes in India.

SC Likely to Let Kejriwal Campaign

The Supreme Court is poised to deliberate on this matter on Monday, with Kejriwal having already submitted an affidavit outlining his defense. According to Bharadwaj, the affidavit highlights discrepancies in the investigation conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). It is argued that out of 1 lakh pages of documents collected during the investigation, 80,000 support Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), yet these were allegedly not presented in court.

Bharadwaj accuses the ED and CBI of selectively using evidence obtained under duress or through incentives such as bail offers or election tickets from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to build their case. This selective presentation of evidence, he argues, undermines the integrity of the judicial process.

Furthermore, Bharadwaj emphasizes Kejriwal's role as a prominent opposition voice, suggesting that his presence outside jail would significantly benefit the INDIA bloc's campaign efforts. He asserts that the Supreme Court's decision to allow Kejriwal to campaign would be a victory for democracy and the electoral system in India.

The Delhi Health Minister also pointed out that despite nearly two years of investigation and numerous notices issued by both the ED and CBI, no concrete evidence against Kejriwal has been presented. This situation has led to allegations of a conspiracy aimed at preventing Kejriwal from participating in the election campaign.

This case not only tests the resilience of India's democratic institutions but also places a spotlight on the conduct of its investigative agencies. As the Supreme Court prepares to hear Kejriwal's plea, all eyes are on what many see as a pivotal moment for justice and democracy in India.
