Delhi MCD Election 2017: People have hopes on Modi, not AAP, says BJP leaders

Bharatiya Janata Party hopes to win Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls and to keep cleanliness as the top priority as promised.

New Delhi, April 26: As Bharatiya Janata Party leads in the early trends in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls, the party leaders on Wednesday said that the people in the national capital have faith in BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies.

"The early trends look in tune with what I saw during campaigning. People have faith in policies of BJP and leadership of Prime Minister Modi," Union Minister Harshvardhan told ANI.

He added that the credit of the victory goes to all party workers, especially to PM Modi.

Similarly, Union Minister Vijay Goel said that the party would take the victory as a challenge and added that cleanliness in Delhi will be the priority.

"It is a new morning but there will be new challenges too. We have the challenge to do more work in Delhi MCD where cleanliness comes first," Vijay Goel to ANI, adding that the party will fulfill what Delhites expect from BJP.

He hopes that it will be a new beginning where Delhi government and MCD will work together.

As the countings for civic polls underway in the national capital, the early trends had shown BJP leading in the race for Congress in the second spot and the ruling AAP on the third spot.

As many as 90,000 security personnel, paramilitary forces, and Home Guards have been deployed at the 35 counting centres.

The polling did not take place in Maujpur, east Delhi and Sarai Pipal Thala, north Delhi after a candidate each of Samajwadi Party died recently.

For the first time in MCD polls, the "None of the above" option has been made available.
