Delhi Man Arrested for Sharing Photos with Illegal Firearms Inspired by Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi

A 22-year-old individual was apprehended in Dwarka for sharing images with illegal firearms on social media, according to police reports. Akash, the suspect, sought fame by emulating jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He aimed to gain attention by posting such photos online.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dwarka Ankit Singh stated that a special police team monitors criminals' activities on social media. This team discovered Akash's Instagram photo featuring firearms. They quickly followed his account and gathered intelligence to locate him.

Social Media Influence and Arrest

On October 15, acting on a tip-off, police captured Akash near the Kair bus depot on Mitraon Kair Road. They found a country-made pistol and a live cartridge in his possession. Consequently, a case was filed under the Arms Act at Jaffarpur Kalan police station.

During questioning, Akash revealed his desire to achieve infamy similar to Lawrence Bishnoi. He admitted acquiring the firearms from an individual named Kalu about a month prior. His intention was to increase his popularity by sharing these images on Instagram.

Background and Social Media Presence

The accused has amassed over 9,000 followers on Instagram, as noted by the officer. Akash hails from Jhajjar in Haryana and has completed education up to Class 12.

Police emphasised the importance of monitoring social media platforms to prevent such activities. The case highlights the influence of social media on individuals seeking notoriety through illegal means.
