Notably, the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) period to file the charge-sheet will be expiring on December 3. On behalf of Sanjay Singh, who is in the custody since October 5, two other applications were also submitted requesting the provision of an electric kettle in jail. While the other seeks permission to get two cheques signed by him, accounting for Rs 50,000 and Rs 90,000.

For both the requests, no objection was raised by the Investigation officers, a report published in the India Today claimed. Taking cognizance of the requests, the court directed jail superintendent to proceed as per the provisions in the jail manual.

In the same liquor policy case, Sanjay Singh is the third Aam Aadmi Party leader held by the investigating agency after Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain in past seventeen months.

At the time of Sanjay Singh's arrest, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal had called the arrest illegal, claiming it a tactic to vanish opposition. Kejriwal had also said that more opposition leaders would be taken into the custody ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections.
