Delhi LG Seeks Clarification on Insulin Denial Claims to CM Kejriwal

In a recent development from Delhi, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has called for an immediate investigation into allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding the health and safety of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently detained in Tihar Jail. The AAP claims that Kejriwal, who was arrested in connection with the excise policy case by the Enforcement Directorate, is being denied essential medical supplies such as insulin, alongside home-cooked food, raising concerns over a potential threat to his life.

LG Probes Kejriwal Insulin Claims

The Lieutenant Governor's office released a statement highlighting Saxena's deep concerns over these allegations. He has directed the Director General of Prisons to provide a detailed and factual report on the matter within 24 hours. Despite the administration of prisons falling under the jurisdiction of the AAP government, Saxena assured that no negligence regarding Kejriwal's health would be overlooked.

Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi raised the alarm at a press conference, stating that Kejriwal's requests for insulin were repeatedly ignored by the Tihar Jail authorities. She further alleged that there were obstructions to arranging a video consultation with his doctor, implicating both the Enforcement Directorate and prison officials in what she suggests is a plot against the Chief Minister's life. According to Atishi, Kejriwal's blood sugar levels have consistently remained above 300 mg/dL, indicating a severe lack of medical attention.

The prison authorities have refuted these claims, asserting that there is no truth to the allegations of withholding insulin or medication from Kejriwal. However, the seriousness of these accusations has led to a heightened demand for transparency and accountability from all parties involved in the care and custody of the Chief Minister.

This incident has sparked widespread concern among AAP supporters and civil rights advocates, calling for an immediate and impartial investigation into the matter. The outcome of this inquiry could have significant implications for prison administration and political accountability in Delhi.
