Delhi Police have recorded the statement of a biker injured in a hit-and-run incident involving an allegedly intoxicated excise official. The incident occurred near Jhandewalan Temple in Karol Bagh on the night between Saturday and Sunday, officials reported.

Injured Bikers Statement Recorded

The biker, Aditya Singh, 18, from Sultanpuri, sustained minor injuries. Singh works for a real estate company and also rides part-time for a bike taxi service. He recounted the events to the police, detailing how his bike was struck by a Hyundai Creta driven by Ramesh Chander Meena.

Sequence of Events

According to Singh's statement, he was riding his bike late Saturday night when Meena allegedly hit him from behind. Singh fell to the ground, but his bike got stuck under Meena's car and was dragged for over two kilometres. Both vehicles eventually caught fire.

Police said that Meena, who serves as a deputy commissioner of excise, was under the influence of alcohol at the time. He had been returning home after partying in central Delhi. Following the incident, Meena fled the scene.

Legal Actions Taken

Meena has been booked for negligent and rash driving. He was arrested but later released on bail. The police confirmed that both vehicles were completely burned in the fire.

Singh received medical treatment for his minor injuries at a hospital. The police have documented his account of the incident as part of their investigation.

The authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run incident. They aim to gather more evidence and witness statements to build a comprehensive case.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the dangers posed by drunk driving. It serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations to prevent such accidents.

This incident has drawn attention to the need for stricter enforcement of laws against driving under the influence. Authorities are urged to take more robust measures to ensure public safety on roads.

The police are expected to present their findings soon, which will determine any further legal actions against Meena. The community awaits updates on this case with keen interest.
