Delhi HC Tells Arvind Kejriwal's Wife To Remove His Court Hearing Video From Social Media

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, asking her to remove a video recording of court proceedings from social media.

The proceedings took place when Kejriwal addressed the court following his arrest in connection with the liquor policy case. The notice comes as part of a directive also requiring social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, to remove similar content as and when identified.

The court's decision was in response to a PIL filed by advocate Vaibhav Singh, reported India Today. The video in question was from March 28, when Kejriwal spoke before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja after his arrest by the ED.

Advocate Vaibhav Singh argued that the recording and dissemination of court proceedings violate the "High Court of Delhi Rules for Video Conferencing for Courts 2021." He claimed that these recordings were made viral by various social media accounts linked to AAP and other opposition parties, including a repost by Sunita Kejriwal of an audio recording originally uploaded by an X user.

Singh contended that the spread of these videos was part of a broader conspiracy by CM Kejriwal and AAP to undermine the judiciary and tarnish the reputation of judges. The court's directive aims to curb the circulation of such recordings to uphold the integrity of judicial proceedings.
