Delhi Govt Withdraws Order Extending Winter Vacations In Schools

Hours after the issuance, the Delhi government has withdrawn an order extending winter vacation in schools in the national capital.

Delhi Govt Withdraws Order Extending Winter Vacations In Schools

Earlier on Saturday, the directorate stated that the winter vacation in all government and private schools in Delhi has been extended till January 10 due to cold weather conditions.

A Delhi government official said that there was some error in the order. "The order extending winter break was incorrectly issued. The order has been withdrawn immediately. Decision on the same will be taken tomorrow morning," PTI quoted the official as saying.

The vacation is scheduled to end on Saturday and classes are to resume Monday.

"Order No.DE.23(3)/Sch.Br./2024/18 dated: January 6, 2024, regarding the extension of Winter Vacation stands withdrawn with immediate effect. Further orders in this regard may be issued in due course," the updated order read.

In a few regions of Delhi, East Rajasthan, northwest Rajasthan, Haryana, and isolated pockets over Punjab, a cold day to severe cold day prevailed due to the prolonged absence of sunlight. Maximum temperatures across North India's plains ranged from 12-18 degrees Celsius, indicating a notable deviation from the usual temperature range for this season, as observed at various recording stations.
