Delhi CM Approves Ex Gratia for Families of Deceased COVID-19 Workers
The Delhi government has approved an ex gratia amount of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 17 workers who died due to coronavirus while serving on Covid duty. The scheme aims at providing financial assistance and monetary security to the bereaved families.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved an ex gratia payment of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 17 employees who lost their lives in the line of duty during the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision came after a meeting with the Group of Ministers (GoM) where it was decided to grant this financial assistance to those who served as frontline warriors against COVID-19 and unfortunately succumbed to the virus.
Recognizing Frontline Warriors

The Delhi government, through this move, seeks to acknowledge and salute these brave individuals who have relentlessly served the citizens of Delhi during these challenging times. In an official statement, Kejriwal expressed that there can be no compensation for anyone's life, but he is hopeful that this financial aid will provide some solace and ease to their grieving families.
Monetary Security For Families
The scheme offering an ex gratia payment of Rs 1 crore aims at providing monetary security for the families left behind by those who were assigned on COVID-19 duty and died due to coronavirus infection. This initiative acknowledges not only their service but also compensates for their ultimate sacrifice in battling this deadly virus.
Inclusion Criteria For Assistance
The statement further clarified that doctors and paramedical staff working in government-run health facilities treating patients or involved in treatment-related tasks would be considered as working on Covid duty. Thus, they would be entitled to benefit under this scheme if they contracted and died from coronavirus infection while performing their duties.
This move by Delhi's chief minister is indeed a commendable step towards acknowledging our frontline workers' tireless efforts during such unprecedented times. It sends out a strong message about valuing human life above all else while ensuring support for those left behind by these brave souls.
Conclusion
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging time for everyone, particularly frontline workers who have put their lives at risk to serve others. The Delhi government's decision to provide financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives in this battle is not only an acknowledgment of their service but also a way of providing some security and support during these difficult times. It is hoped that other states will follow suit and implement similar measures to recognize the sacrifice made by these brave warriors against COVID-19.
