Delhi Govt and LG in Blame Game Over Rani Khera Drownings

The ruling AAP and the LG office clashed on Saturday over the deaths of two teenage boys in a rainwater-filled pit on land controlled by the Delhi government agency DSIIDC in Rani Khera. The AAP criticised LG VK Saxena, stating he should share responsibility if he seeks credit for an industrial park notification in Baprola.

Blame Game Over Rani Khera Deaths

The AAP argued that Saxena should be blamed for the Rani Khera deaths, as he has been managing DSIIDC's land matters for the past two years. Raj Niwas officials countered, saying that the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) is under the control of the industry minister from the elected AAP government.

Responsibility and Accountability

AAP accused the LG of bypassing the elected government on land-related files, claiming Saxena has been directly handling DSIIDC land issues for two years. "The responsibility should be with the one who enjoys powers," AAP stated. The party questioned why Saxena is avoiding responsibility for the Rani Khera deaths while taking credit for DSIIDC's land works.

Raj Niwas responded by criticising AAP's governance over the past decade. "AAP should introspect as to where they have brought the national capital during their 10 years of disastrous rule," said an official from the LG office. They suggested that AAP leaders should be held accountable and consider resigning.

Land Development Issues

The LG office noted that plots were handed over by DDA to DSIIDC, which had even fenced them. They accused the AAP government of issuing advertisements and claiming non-existent industrialisation miracles. The land in Rani Khera was approved by the Centre in 2013 for developing a non-polluting industrial area.

An official from Raj Niwas remarked, "All that the AAP Government has done during the last 10 years is fence the area and create craters there for hapless Delhiites to die." This statement highlighted their criticism of AAP's handling of land development projects.

An FIR has been filed against unknown persons under charges of death due to negligence in connection with the deaths at Rani Khera. This legal action aims to address accountability for the tragic incident involving the two teenage boys.
