About RRTS
The under-construction Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor, being built for a semi-high-speed regional rail service named RAPIDX by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), is a joint venture company of the Centre with the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The NCRTC has been tasked to oversee the construction of India's first RRTS, between Delhi and Meerut.
The entire 82.15 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is targeted to be operational by June 2025. RRTS trains feature several commuter-centric facilities such as overhead luggage racks, Wi-Fi, and mobile and laptop charging facilities at every seat.
Safety Features
According to officials, the trains have been designed and manufactured based on International Safety Standards and have fire detection systems for internal as well as external fire.
The opening of the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is a significant milestone in the development of India's first RRTS. The new service will provide a fast, reliable, and comfortable mode of transportation for commuters traveling between Delhi and Meerut.
