Delhi Fire Case: Najafgarh Factory Blast Injures Four Workers; Firefighters Battle Flames

A major fire engulfed a namkeen factory in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh on Saturday morning, leaving four workers injured, according to The Hindu report. The incident has raised concerns about safety measures in small-scale industrial units, prompting authorities to urge vigilance.

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) reported receiving an emergency call at 8:16 am, after which 17 fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The fire originated on the ground floor of the two-storey building and quickly escalated, triggering a blast that left four workers injured.

The injured workers were promptly transported to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. Their condition is currently stable, but authorities are closely monitoring their recovery.

As of the Hindustan Times report, firefighters are still battling to completely douse the flames. While the cause of the fire is under investigation, preliminary assessments suggest that a short circuit or mishandling of combustible materials could be potential triggers.

This incident underscores the importance of safety protocols in factories handling flammable substances. Experts recommend the following precautions to prevent such disasters:

Fire Safety Equipment: Install and maintain fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and sprinkler systems in all industrial units.
Proper Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation to minimise the risk of gas buildup that could lead to explosions.
Regular Inspections: Conduct routine electrical and safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
Emergency Training: Provide workers with fire safety training and conduct regular evacuation drills.
Storage Guidelines: Store flammable materials securely and in compliance with safety standards.
