Delhi Election Defeat Review Meeting: AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal To Meet CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab MLAs
Days after Aam Aadmi Party's defeat in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal called a high-level meeting with Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs from Punjab. This gathering took place at Kapoorthala House in Delhi. The primary agenda was to discuss the outcomes of the Delhi Assembly elections.
The AAP faced a significant setback in these elections, which occurred on February 5. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious, securing 48 out of 70 seats. In contrast, AAP managed to win only 22 seats, while the Congress failed to secure any.

Punjab Campaign Efforts
Before the elections, AAP's Punjab unit, including Mann and other leaders, campaigned vigorously in Delhi. They highlighted achievements such as providing 50,000 government jobs and free electricity for up to 300 units. Additionally, they promoted the establishment of 850 'Aam Aadmi Clinics' similar to Delhi's 'Mohalla Clinics' and discussed acquiring a private thermal power plant.
Mann played a crucial role as a star campaigner for AAP during this period. He led roadshows across Delhi to showcase his government's accomplishments in Punjab and garner support for AAP candidates.
Impact on Future Elections
The defeat in Delhi has been a significant blow for AAP. Opposition leaders are now predicting a similar decline for the party in Punjab. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, only three out of AAP's 13 candidates were successful.
AAP had previously achieved a landslide victory in Punjab during the 2022 state elections by winning 92 out of 117 seats. This recent loss raises concerns about their future prospects in both states.
