Delhi Doctor's Murder Investigation Uncovers Brutal Torture by Four Suspects
The Delhi Police's detailed investigation into the tragic demise of a 63-year-old physician in southeast Delhi's Jangpura area has uncovered a harrowing sequence of events leading to his death. Yogesh Chandra Paul was found deceased in his residence in Jangpura Extension, with evidence pointing towards a violent altercation. The incident, which occurred on Friday, has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting an intense police investigation.

Officials disclosed that Dr. Paul suffered severe torture before his life was taken using a dog leash to strangle him. Prior to this, he was struck on the head with a blunt object. Disturbingly, his hands were bound, indicating he might have been restrained during the attack. The police have sourced CCTV footage from near Dr. Paul's home, which has been instrumental in identifying four suspects linked to this heinous crime.
According to a police officer closely involved with the case, the CCTV footage revealed one suspect keeping watch outside while three others invaded Dr. Paul's home. Inside, they subjected Dr. Paul to physical assault, gagged him, and secured him to a chair. This chair was then moved to the kitchen where Dr. Paul faced further brutality before being strangled. The assailants also confined Dr. Paul's two dogs in the bathroom and proceeded to ransack the premises before making their escape.
The police have initiated a murder and robbery case, exploring various leads to uncover the motive behind this brutal act. There is speculation about an insider's involvement due to the nature of the crime. Dr. Paul lived with his wife Neena Paul, also a doctor employed at a Delhi government hospital, who was at work during the incident. The couple has two daughters who reside in Canada and Noida, respectively.
Dr. Paul was well-regarded in his community, known for his generosity towards the less fortunate by offering free consultations and medicines through his clinic operated from his home. The local Deputy Commissioner of Police Southeast, Rajesh Deo, has indicated that the investigation is progressing with significant leads being pursued through raids across various locations.
In response to this tragedy, residents of Jangpura Extension conducted a candle march to honor Dr. Paul and express their grievances over what some perceive as inadequate police patrolling in the area.
This incident has not only highlighted concerns regarding community safety but also underscored the risks faced by individuals serving their communities. The Delhi Police are committed to apprehending those responsible for this crime as investigations continue.
