Delhi CM Pick Rekha Gupta Meets LG VK Saxena, Stakes Claim To Form Government In Delhi
First-time MLA Rekha Gupta was elected as BJP leader of Legislative group on Wednesday unanimously and she will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi. To stake a claim to form government in the national capital, Rekha Gupta along with senior BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad, Baijayant Panda, Parvesh Verma and others, met LG Vinai Kumar Saxena. She handed over a letter of support to LG VK Saxena signed by all 48 BJP MLAs.
On Thursday, Rekha Gupta will take oath of office and assume office at Ramlila Ground.

Rekha Gupta secured a decisive victory over AAP's Bandna Kumari in Shalimar Bagh during the February 5 Assembly elections, winning by more than 29,000 votes. This marks the BJP's return to power in Delhi after a gap of over 26 years.
Gupta's political journey began at Daulat Ram College, where she served as President of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) in 1996-97. Her involvement in politics grew steadily, leading to her first electoral win in 2007 as a councillor from North Pitampura. Her career has since flourished within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Rekha Gupta Political Career and Achievements
In her political career, Gupta has held significant roles, including three-time councillor and former mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). Her influence extends beyond local governance; she is currently the National Vice President of the BJP Mahila Morcha and has served as general secretary for Delhi BJP.
Gupta's leadership skills were tested during the 2022 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections when she ran against AAP's Shelly Oberoi for mayor. Despite not winning, her reputation within the party remained strong. Her dedication to public service and strategic acumen have been key to her political ascent.
BJP's Strategic Move
The decision to appoint Gupta as Chief Minister is seen as a strategic move by the BJP to strengthen its position in Delhi. The party aims to leverage her experience and leadership qualities to address challenges facing the capital. Gupta's appointment is expected to bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy to the administration
