Delhi CMs Bold Move: 32 Shops Get 24/7 Nod, Unlocking Economic Potential

In a bid to boost employment and economic activities, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved the operation of 32 shops and commercial establishments for 24 hours. This initiative aims to create new job opportunities and enhance economic growth within the city.

In a move aimed at fostering economic growth and creating employment opportunities, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has granted permission for 32 additional shops and commercial establishments to operate round-the-clock. This initiative aligns with the government's objective of enhancing economic activities within the city.

Proposal Initiated by Labour Department

The labour department of Delhi proposed this plan to the Chief Minister, seeking approval for the 24-hour operation of these establishments. The establishments fall under the categories of commercial, retail trade or business, and provision stores, as specified in an official statement.

Strict Adherence to Rules and Regulations

It is mandatory for all these establishments to strictly comply with the provisions and rules outlined in the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act of 1954. The government will maintain strict vigilance to ensure that no violations occur. The proposal has been forwarded to the Lieutenant Governor (LG) for final approval.

Thorough Examination of Applications

Under the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act of 1954, the Delhi labour department received a total of 52 applications seeking permission to operate shops for 24 hours. Each application underwent a thorough examination, and 20 of them were found to be lacking in meeting the necessary requirements and were subsequently rejected. The remaining 32 applications that fulfilled the criteria were approved.

Growing Number of 24/7 Establishments

With the addition of these 32 establishments, the total number of shops and commercial entities permitted to operate 24/7 in Delhi now stands at 667. This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to generate employment opportunities and stimulate overall economic development in the city.
