Delhi BJP Claims Lokayukta Notices to Ex-AAP Ministers Sisodia, Jain in Classroom Scam

Delhi BJP alleges former AAP ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain received notices from Lokayukta in a purported classroom construction scam, but AAP dismisses the claims as defamatory.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Delhi on Wednesday claimed that former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain have been issued notices by the Lokayukta in an alleged classroom construction scam. However, the Lokayukta office has not yet confirmed the issuance of these notices.

Lokayukta Notices Stir Controversy: Delhi BJP vs AAP in Classroom Scam Claims

AAP Calls BJP Claims Defamatory

The AAP has called the BJP leaders' claims defamatory and accused them of attempting to tarnish the reputation of the Delhi education model and its senior leaders. The party stated that exhaustive investigations over nine years have not revealed any corruption in the matter.

Delhi BJP Welcomes Notices

The Delhi BJP welcomed the issuance of notices to Sisodia and Jain in the alleged classroom scam. The complaint was filed by North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that the former ministers will soon face trial in this case.

Lokayukta Finds Prima Facie Case

According to the Delhi BJP, the Lokayukta found a prima facie case against Sisodia and Jain based on Tiwari's complaint. Tiwari alleged that the two ministers misused their positions to break down a Rs 989-crore classroom project into 16 tenders of less than Rs 100 crores each for clearance at their own level.

AAP Challenges BJP

The AAP challenged the BJP to come up with a list of 10 schools in BJP-ruled states that can compare to those run by the Delhi government in terms of quality. The party asserted that education is the primary focus of its government in Delhi and that it is committed to ensuring quality education for every child in the city.

The alleged classroom construction scam has become a point of contention between the BJP and the AAP in Delhi. While the BJP claims that the scam exposes corruption in the AAP government, the AAP maintains that there is no evidence of wrongdoing and that the BJP is trying to obstruct its work.
