Delhi Assembly Election 2025: From Atishi To Ariba Khan, Check Full List Of Key Women Contenders

The upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on February 5 will see 699 candidates contesting for seats, including 96 women. This is a notable increase from the 2020 elections, where 76 women participated out of 672 candidates, according to a Financial Express report. The rise in women candidates reflects a growing emphasis by political parties on engaging female voters.

Among the major parties, the BJP and AAP have both fielded nine female candidates each, while Congress has nominated seven women. All three parties have increased the number of women candidates compared to the previous elections.

Prominent Women Candidates Contesting In The Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

Atishi - AAP

Atishi is contesting from the Kalkaji constituency. She won the last election with a margin of 55,897 votes. A graduate from the University of Oxford, she holds a Master of Science degree. Atishi became Delhi's Chief Minister in 2024, succeeding Arvind Kejriwal. She is the third woman to hold this position after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. She has assets worth Rs 1.41 crore and one registered criminal case.

Alka Lamba - Congress

Alka Lamba is contesting against Atishi from Kalkaji. She began her political career as a student leader and later became the President of Delhi University. As per My Neta data, she has assets worth Rs 3.39 crore and no liabilities.

Rakhi Birla - AAP

Rakhi Birla is contesting from Mangol Puri (SC). She holds a postgraduate degree in Mass Communication and secured 74,154 votes in the last election. Her declared assets amount to Rs 76,421, and she has one registered criminal case.

Shikha Rai - BJP

Shikha Rai is contesting from Greater Kailash against AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj. She has an MA in English and an LL.B. degree from Punjab University. Her assets are valued at Rs 6.38 crore, with liabilities of Rs 32.65 lakh.

Bandana Kumari - AAP

Bandana Kumari represents Shalimar Bagh and secured 57,707 votes in the last election. She holds a graduate degree from B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University. Her assets total Rs 9.22 crore, with liabilities of Rs 14.83 lakh.

Preeti Tomar - AAP

Preeti Tomar, contesting from Tri Nagar, won 58,504 votes in the last election. She holds an MSc and BEd degree from Meerut University. Her declared assets are valued at Rs 1.93 crore, with liabilities of Rs 1.91 lakh.

Dhanwati Chandela - AAP

Dhanwati Chandela, representing Rajouri Garden, secured 62,212 votes. She reported assets worth Rs 56.90 crore and liabilities of around Rs 98 lakh.

Ariba Khan - Congress

Ariba Khan is contesting from the Okhla constituency. She is the daughter of local politician Asif Mohd Khan and has been active in social work, focusing on education, healthcare, and women's rights. She aims to address youth unemployment and infrastructure issues.

Raj Kumari Dhillon - AAP

Raj Kumari Dhillon represents Hari Nagar and won 58,087 votes in the last election. She holds a BA from Delhi University and has assets worth Rs 48.08 crore, with liabilities of Rs 20.02 crore.

Bhavna Gaur - AAP

Bhavna Gaur, representing Palam, won with 92,775 votes. She holds a BA from Delhi University and a BEd from Maharishi Dayanand University. Her assets are worth Rs 14.27 lakh, with liabilities of Rs 8.62 lakh.

Pramila Tokas - AAP

Pramila Tokas, contesting from R K Puram, won 47,208 votes. She has two criminal cases registered against her. Her assets total Rs 80.88 crore, with liabilities of Rs 11.75 crore.

About Delhi Elections 2025

A total of 981 candidates filed their nominations between January 10 and 17. After scrutiny on January 18 and the withdrawal deadline on January 20, 699 candidates were confirmed. The elections will take place on February 5, with results to be announced on February 8.
