New ISBT at Delhi Airport to Enhance Inter-State Bus Connectivity
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) plans to establish an intermodal transport hub near the Aerocity Metro station, featuring an Airport ISBT to cater to long-distance interstate passengers. This state-of-the-art facility aims to provide seamless connectivity and dedicated infrastructure for inter-state luxury buses, enhancing the travel experience for airport passengers.

The Delhi airport will soon get an Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) as the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has planned an intermodal transport hub at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. The ISBT aims to address the issue of the lack of dedicated stands or parking spaces for inter-state buses.
Intermodal Transport Hub
In a communication to the Delhi government's Transport Department, DIAL stated that it has planned an intermodal transport hub at IGI Airport near the Aerocity Metro station. This hub will include an Airport ISBT as a primary facility to serve long-distance interstate passengers. The upcoming metro station on the Phase 4 Line under construction by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will also be integrated into the hub.
State-of-the-Art Facility
The proposed airport ISBT is being planned as a state-of-the-art facility for operating inter-state luxury buses to serve airport passengers. It will provide efficient intermodal integration and enhance the overall passenger experience.
Development and Operation
The ISBT and supporting passenger amenities will be developed by DIAL either directly or through a nominee or concessionaire in consultation with the transport department. The capital cost for the development of the facilities will be incurred by DIAL or its concessionaire.
Approval and Services
DIAL has sought permission from the transport department to develop and operate the Airport ISBT to serve inter-state buses. The company has also requested the approval of the transport department to formally declare the upcoming ISBT to serve all kinds of buses, including government and luxury ones.
Commercial Development
In addition to the ISBT, there are plans to develop the place commercially with retail outlets, food and beverage places, and an EV charging facility.
The upcoming ISBT at Delhi airport will provide a dedicated and well-equipped facility for inter-state bus passengers, enhancing their travel experience and ensuring seamless connectivity between different modes of transportation.
