Delhi air pollution peaks: Emergency like situation

District Magistrate Ritu Maheshwari announced that all construction activities in the region would reamin suspended for atleast a week.

The air quality in Delhi remains severe. Delhi woke up to a smoggy morning on Wednesday.

The Delhi government on Tuesday ordered that all primary schools to remain closed and also barred outdoor activities for children.

A gas chamber:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described Delhi as a gas chamber. He reviewed the situation with health and environment officials.

Ready to re-launch off-even scheme:

In view of the heavy pollution, the Delhi government said that it is ready to relaunch its odd-even transport scheme and also restrict trucks from entering the city.

Health advisory:

The government has also issued a health advisory for residents of the city, especially children, the elderly and those suffering from asthma and heart ailments. "

Crop burning:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Twitter said that he is going to write letters to the chief ministers of Punjab and Haryana and request a meeting to find solution to crop burning.

Skymet said that the air quality is going to remain the same in Delhi for atleast the next two days.

Air quality severe:

Air quality levels in areas like Lodhi Road continue to be in the ‘severe' category, with high levels of pollutants PM10 and PM2.5 in the air. Many students in the city are complaining about itching in throat and eyes because of the pollution levels in teh city.
