Dehradun sisters create history, scale seven tallest mountains of the world

New Delhi, Dec 18: Dehradun's twin sisters Tashi and Nungshi Malik became first ever siblings to scale seven tallest peaks in seven continents.

The 23-year-old twins have achieved this distinction by successfully climbing Mt Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica, on Wednesday.

The twin sisters ticked Vinson on December 17. With the successful climb of Mt Vinson, the twins have entered the "hall of fame" for mountaineers - "The Seven Summits Club".

Tashi and Nungshi Malik who had begun their expedition in 2012 have till now reached the top of Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt Everest (Asia), Mt Elbrus (Europe), Mt Aconcagua (South America), Mt Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania), Mt McKinley (North America), and finally Mt Vinson Massif (Antarctica), says a India Today report.

In May 19, 2013 the Malik sisters scaled World's highest peak Mt Everest.

Tashi and Nungshi are residents of Johri village in Dehradun. Their father is a retired colonel from the Army.

The twin sisters are first mountaineers in their family. They began with basic mountaineering course at the Uttarkashi-based Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) in 2009.
