Dehradun: Elderly woman mauled to death by leopard

70-year-old Genda Devi was attacked by the feline yesterday while she was on her way to an adjoining forest to collect fodder, Forest officer of Rajpur range Anup Gusain said.
Her body with injury marks on her neck was recovered by villagers late last evening near Bakralgaon, he said adding that the patrolling in the area has been intensified after the death of the woman, he added.
With a leopard on the prowl in the neighbourhood, residents are living in fear and have demanded effective steps to prevent its entry into residential areas.
The incident has sparked fear among the residents of the Makkawala village, situated on the outskirts of the city, the official said.
