Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 148th birth anniversary for his contribution in uniting the country and took a veiled dig at the Congress, saying his service to the nation was not allowed to be highlighted earlier.

Run for Unity Event

Rajnath Singh flagged off the Run for Unity event in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, to commemorate Sardar Patel's birth anniversary and National Unity Day. Around 8,000 people, including children, NCC cadets, youth, sportspersons, running enthusiasts, and HAL personnel, participated in the 1.5-km run. Singh emphasized the importance of Sardar Patel's vision and determination in safeguarding India's unity and integrity.

Importance of National Unity Day

Singh stressed the significance of National Unity Day as a day of resolve for unity, solidarity, and maintaining integrity. He urged people to take a pledge to preserve India's unity and integrity. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his deputies Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and other leaders also paid tributes to Sardar Patel on this occasion.

Tributes to Indira Gandhi

Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her martyrdom day. He acknowledged her as India's first and only woman prime minister and expressed his respect for her contributions.

Infrastructure Development in Lucknow

Singh highlighted the economic progress India has made under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, moving from the tenth position to the fifth position globally. He also mentioned the upcoming construction of an elevator road above Shaheed Path and the elevated road project from Lucknow to Kanpur.

Closing Ceremony of Jaantaa Raja

Singh attended the closing ceremony of Jaantaa Raja, a play based on the life of Shivaji Maharaj, at the Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow. He praised Shivaji Maharaj as a national and public leader with exceptional military and strategic vision. Singh urged all Indians to draw inspiration from his life story.
