Deepotsav Celebrations Illuminate Shringverpur and Prayagraj with Community Spirit
Celebrations inspired by Ayodhya's Deepotsav took place at Shringverpur Dham and Prayagraj on Diwali eve. Shringverpur, known in the Ramayana as Nishadraj's capital, played a key role during Lord Ram's exile. Nishadraj aided Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman in crossing the Ganga. These events were commemorated with grand festivities.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya participated in the Deepotsav celebrations by lighting lamps at Shringverpur's Ganga banks and Nishadraj Garden. He then visited Bharadwaj Muni Ashram in Prayagraj, where he lit lamps amidst a large gathering. The crowd gathered to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm.
Deepotsav Celebrations in Prayagraj
Inspired by Ayodhya's Deepotsav, Prayagraj residents organised their own festivities along the Sangam bank and Baluaghat on the Yamuna River. An official from the Prayagraj Mela Authority noted that these events attracted a significant number of people. The celebrations included lighting lamps and performing aarti ceremonies.
At Sangam, numerous people performed Ganga aarti, illuminating the area with lamps along the riverbank. Similarly, at Baluaghat, Yamuna aarti was performed with lamps adorning the riverbanks. These activities created a vibrant atmosphere, drawing many participants.
A fair takes place at Baluaghat throughout Kartik month in the Hindu calendar. During this period, many people take daily dips in the Yamuna River. This tradition adds to the festive spirit of the region during this time of year.
The celebrations at Shringverpur Dham and Prayagraj reflect the cultural significance of these locations in relation to Lord Ram's journey. They highlight the community's dedication to preserving and honouring their heritage through such vibrant festivities.
