Ayodhya Deepotsav 2024: Ram Mandir To Light 28 Lakh Diyas Near Saryu River

The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is gearing up for the eighth Deepotsav in Ayodhya. This Diwali holds special significance as it marks the first celebration at the newly constructed Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Preparations are in full swing to ensure a grand festival, with 18 vibrant tableaux depicting key events from Lord Ram's life.

Ayodhya's Municipal Commissioner highlighted this year's green initiative, stating, "We are preparing 18 tableaux. The new feature in this year's celebrations is that this is a green initiative. All the tableaux are being made of degradable material." This eco-friendly approach aims to enhance the festival's sustainability.

International Performances and Record-Breaking Plans

International artists from six countries will perform during the global Ram Leela event. Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal mentioned that extensive preparations are underway. This year, 25 lakh diyas will light up the Sarayu River ghats, aiming for a Guinness World Record.

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to set a world record by lighting 28 lakh lamps along the Saryu riverbanks. Emphasising ecology, eco-sensitive lamps will be used to illuminate the sacred Ram temple. These lamps prevent stains and soot while ensuring longer-lasting flames.

Vibrant Tableaux and Cultural Celebrations

The festival showcases Ayodhya's rich cultural traditions and deep devotion linked to this significant occasion. The display includes pivotal moments like Lord Ram's education, marriage to Sita, exile years, Bharat's reunion, Shabari story, Ashok Vatika presence, Hanuman's Lanka journey, Lakshman's injury by Shakti arrow, Ravana's defeat, and Lord Ram's victorious return to Ayodhya.

This year's Deepotsav will also highlight seven captivating segments of Tulsikrit Ram Charit Manas: Bal Kand, Ayodhya Kand, Aranya Kand, Sundar Kand, Kishkindha Kand, Lanka Kand, and Uttar Kand. These segments offer insights into Lord Ram's life and teachings.

On October 30th, an international Ramlila performance will take place at Ram Katha Park. The event promises to be a grand spectacle with over two million lamps ready to light up 55 ghats along the Sarayu River banks.

The festivities not only celebrate Diwali but also honour Ayodhya's spiritual heritage. By combining tradition with modern sustainability efforts, this year's Deepotsav aims to create lasting memories for all attendees while setting new records.
