Declare Vivekananda, Netaji's birth anniversaries as national holidays: Mamata Banerjee
It may be reclled that expelled CPI(M) leader Ritabrata Banerjee demanded to declare January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to PM Modi demanding Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's birth anniversaries be declared national holidays. Swami Vivekananda's 155th birth anniversary was celebrated on January 12 and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's birth anniversary will be celebrated on Jan 23rd.

Mamata Banerjee tweeted, "Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose are national and international icons. I have written a letter to the PM urging the GOI to declare both their birthdays (Jan 12 and Jan 23) national holidays."
It may be recalled that expelled CPI(M) leader Ritabrata Banerjee demanded to declare January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, as 'Desh Prem Diwas' (Patriotism Day) and a national holiday. He demanded that the government declare January 23 as 'Patriotism Day' and a national holiday as a fitting tribute to "the forgotten hero" of the Indian independence struggle. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu hoped the government will take note of the suggestion but went on to add that members should not be seen asking for holidays.
