FASTag KYC Registration Deadline Extended - Check The New Last Date

In a relief to the public, the state-owned National Highways Authority of India on Wednesday announced that it is extending the KYC compliance deadline for FASTags.

Well, the people will now have time till February 29 to complete their KYC formalities. The NHAI had earlier announced that FASTags with valid balances but incomplete KYC will get deactivated by banks post-January 31.

"Attention #FASTag users! The deadline for #OneVehicleOneFASTag initiative and completing KYC updation for your latest FASTag has been extended till 29th February 2024," NHAI said in a post on X.

The 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative has been taken by the NHAI to enhance the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and provide seamless movement at toll plazas. It also discourages the use of single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to a particular vehicle, NHAI had said earlier this month.

"Only 7 lakh multiple FASTags have been closed out of 1.27 crore. Hence, we are proceeding with extending the deadline by another one month," PTI quoted an official as saying.

The state-owned agency is urging FASTag users to undergo the 'Know Your Customer' (KYC) process for their most recent FASTag, aligning with RBI guidelines. With a penetration rate exceeding 98 percent and a user base of over 8 crores, FASTag has brought about a significant transformation in the country's electronic toll collection system.

Operated by the NHAI, FASTag utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to facilitate toll payments directly from the linked prepaid or savings account, streamlining the toll payment process for users and toll authorities alike.

To update your KYC for FASTag, follow these steps:

• Visit the bank-linked FASTag website.
• Log in using your registered mobile number and enter the OTP received.
• Go to the "My Profile" section and click on the KYC tab.
• Fill in the necessary details, such as address proof, and click the submit button.
• Your KYC will be completed, and the KYC page will display your updated status.

To check FASTag status:

• Visit fastag.ihmcl.com.
• Click on the Login tab on the top right part of the website.
• Log in by providing the registered mobile number for OTP.
• In the dashboard's "My Profile" section, check the KYC status and profile details submitted during registration.
• You can also perform these actions on your bank's website.

Documents required for FASTag KYC:

• Vehicle Registration Certificate
• Identity proof
• Address proof
• Passport-size photo
• Acceptable IDs for proof include Passport, Voter ID card, Aadhar card, driving license, or PAN card.
