Days After Questioning Satyapal Malik, CBI Raids at Nine Locations

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting searches at nine locations, weeks after questioning former Jammu and Kashmir governor, Satya Pal Malik.

The CBI is also conducting searches at the residence of former media advisor to Malik, CBI sources tell OneIndia. The raids are underway in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan and the case relates to one of alleged corruption in the Union Territory.

The case on hand pertains to the allegations of irregularities in an insurance scheme involving the Anil Ambani Reliance General Insurance. The case was registered after Malik made allegations of attempt to bribe him in the matter.

Malik was last month questioned at his residence for around five hours. This was the second time that he had been questioned in connection with the case. CBI officials have however clarified that Malik is not an accused or suspect in the case. His statement was recorded in October last year after he completed his term as governor. Malik has served as governor in Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa and Meghalaya.

In October Malik had claimed that he was offered Rs 300 as bribe to clear two files including one related to an RSS leader. In March 2022, J&K's Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha had said that the allegations were serious in nature and that the administration had decided to hand over the case to the CBI.
