Dharma, Ram Temple, and Indias Resurgence: Insights from David Frawley
David Frawley, a renowned scholar, shares his perspectives on the essence of dharma, the significance of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, and the remarkable cultural, economic, and spiritual awakening that India is experiencing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Noted scholar David Frawley shared his insights on dharma, the Ram temple in Ayodhya, and India's cultural awakening during an interaction with Videos on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi. Frawley emphasized that dharma is not necessarily a religion but rather a way of life that involves honoring one's duties and respecting the sacred in all.

Dharma: Not Just a Religion
Frawley drew a distinction between religion and dharma, explaining that religion in the Western world has a different meaning and is rooted in monotheism. In contrast, dharma is based on universal principles that transcend specific religious beliefs. He cited the example of ahimsa (non-violence) as a dharmic principle that carries a universal message of compassion and respect for all living beings.
Ram Temple: A Symbol of Cultural Heritage
Regarding the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Frawley expressed his support for its construction, emphasizing that it represents a cultural and spiritual heritage rather than a political or religious conflict. He highlighted the significance of honoring temples and their traditions, especially in a world filled with conflicts.
India's Cultural Awakening
Frawley also spoke about India's current state of cultural, economic, and spiritual awakening under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the importance of nurturing and sharing India's rich artistic and spiritual heritage with the world.
Collaboration for Sri Aurobindo's Teachings
During the event, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and the Auroville Foundation to foster collaboration in advancing the teachings and vision of philosopher and spiritual leader Sri Aurobindo. Frawley, as a member secretary of IGNCA, participated in the signing ceremony alongside other dignitaries.
Dharma: A True Spiritual Democracy
Frawley shared his understanding of dharma as a true spiritual democracy, involving the honoring of duties to the whole of life and the recognition of the sacred in all. He emphasized the importance of respecting different forms of worship and recognizing the unity of all beings, as expressed in the Upanishads.
David Frawley's insights on dharma, the Ram temple, and India's cultural awakening provide a thought-provoking perspective on these important issues. His emphasis on universal principles, cultural heritage, and spiritual growth offers a valuable contribution to the ongoing discourse on these topics.
