Dates for UP Assembly elections might be declared after Dec 15

The election Commission is keeping busy with the preparation of the upcoming UP Assembly elections 2017. Inside reports suggest that the election dates will be announced anytime after December 15.

New Delhi, Nov 22: The election Commission is keeping busy with the preparation of the upcoming UP Assembly elections 2017. Inside reports suggest that the election dates will be announced anytime after December 15.

A senior official from the Election Commission said," we have been asked to be mentally prepared for announcement of dates after Dec 15."

This way, the commission will get very less time to organise the elections in the country's largest state.

"We do not have any time to sit back. All our concentration is going on gearing up for the elections."

He further added that the Commission is planning to release the voters list by Jan 2. The elections will be held according to this. However, it was not clear in how many stages will the elections be held in the state.

The official further added that the Election Commission will meet its target of releasing the voters' list and work is progressing accordingly. The Election Commission is planning to loop in youth and women to a greater extent.
