Sister of Slain Dalit Youth Dies Mysteriously in Sagar Incident

In a tragic sequence of events, Anjana Ahirwar, who had previously filed a case alleging her brother, a Dalit, was murdered, died under distressing circumstances. This incident unfolded when she accidentally fell from an ambulance transporting her uncle's body in Sagar. The uncle, Rajendra Ahirwar, aged 24, succumbed to injuries after being assaulted on Saturday night due to an old enmity, according to police sources. This clash occurred under the jurisdiction of the Khurai police station, as confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police Lokesh Sinha.

Dalit Youths Sister Mysterious Death

Anjana Ahirwar had been at the forefront of seeking justice for her brother Nitin Ahirwar alias Lalu, who she claimed was killed on August 24, 2023, by individuals harassing her. This grievance led to a sit-in protest by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in Barodia Nonagir village. The recent death of Rajendra Ahirwar and the subsequent accident involving Anjana has reignited concerns over the safety and harassment issues plaguing the family.

Following Rajendra's death, which occurred amidst allegations of pressure for compromise in an older harassment case, the police have initiated an investigation to uncover all facts surrounding these interconnected incidents. The initial FIR lodged by Anjana Ahirwar pointed to a pattern of harassment and intimidation that culminated in her brother's death last August.

State Congress chief Jitu Patwari has voiced his concerns over these incidents, highlighting a broader issue of law and order in the state. Through a tweet, Patwari lamented the attack on Rajendra Ahirwar by five individuals and criticized the state's handling of law and order under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. He underscored the deteriorating situation that not only affects Sagar but is indicative of a statewide crisis.

The series of events has cast a spotlight on the challenges faced by individuals seeking justice against harassment and violence. The loss of Anjana Ahirwar, following her relentless pursuit for justice for her brother and uncle, underscores the perilous journey of those fighting against oppression and intimidation in their quest for justice.
