Cyclonic winds inflict significant damage at Bhubaneswar airport
Odisha also experienced rains on Sunday evening in the wake of cyclonic storm 'Maarutha' that triggered thunder showers at few places in the state.
Bhubaneswar, April 17: A glass panel of the departure gate and a bullet proof screen at the Biju Patnaik International airport were damaged on Sunday after strong cyclonic winds hit the Odisha capital.

Officials said the incident occurred around 9 pm when strong winds shattered the glass panel of the main departure gate of the airport and a bullet proof glass placed atop a security post of the CISF fell and cracked.
A trolley gate and a door-frame metal detector at the airport also suffered damage after they were brought to the ground by strong winds, they said. No person was injured in these incidents, they added.
