Cyclone Dana Updates: Schools To Be Closed In West Bengal Tomorrow

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued severe warnings following the movement of Cyclone Dana in India's coastal regions. Heavy rains and strong winds were observed in most of the Coastal regions of West Bengal. Taking cognizance of the weather conditions and IMD alerts for Cyclone Dana, CM Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government has announced to shut all schools and primary educational institutes on October 23, 2024.

The IMD predicted that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal may intensify into Cyclone Dana by October 23, with landfall anticipated between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal on October 24.
