Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma Reports 7.3% Decrease in Crime Rates Due to Police Alertness

Rajasthan's Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, announced a notable decline in crime rates in the state compared to the previous year. This improvement is attributed to the vigilance of the police department. During a Home Department review meeting, it was revealed that overall crime has decreased by 7.3%. Additionally, there has been an 8.8% reduction in crimes against women and a 13.96% drop in cases involving Scheduled Castes and Tribes.

Sharma emphasised the importance of community policing in reducing crime and raising societal awareness. He advocated for recognising and rewarding those who assist the police in crime prevention. The chief minister also instructed officers to tackle drug smuggling effectively and address incidents involving mobile phones within jails.

Crime Reduction and Community Policing

The chief minister stressed that if inmates are found using mobile phones, the responsible jail staff will face strict consequences. He commended the Special Operations Group (SOG) for their investigations into paper leak cases, noting that their efforts have gained national recognition. The state government has adopted a zero-tolerance approach to these issues.

Sharma directed all departments to operate on a mission mode to ensure timely and transparent recruitment processes. A high-level committee led by the chief secretary will be established to regularly review recruitment progress. This committee will provide necessary guidelines and monitor efforts to overcome practical challenges in recruitments.

Recruitment and Examination Security

The chief minister proposed developing permanent examination centres in districts with enhanced security measures, such as CCTV installations, to prevent irregularities during exams. These steps aim to ensure fair and secure examination processes across Rajasthan.

The state's commitment to reducing crime and improving recruitment transparency reflects its dedication to maintaining law and order. By implementing these measures, Rajasthan aims to create a safer environment for its residents while ensuring efficient governance.
