CPI(M) to lose polls by aligning with Congress: HM Amit Shah in Tripura

Agartala, Feb 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday slammed Congress and CPI (M) and predicted that both the parties will lose the Tripura polls.

Addressing a gathering at 'Vijay Sankalp rally' at Chandipur assembly, Shah said, "By aligning with Cong, CPI(M) proved that they're going to lose polls. They couldn't face BJP alone."

"Congress must feel ashamed, they aligned with CPI(M) who killed so many of their members. They have also made Tipra Modha a pawn," Shah added. Shah further stated that the BJP government has provided health insurance and drinking water was supplied to all the houses. He added, "Transported gas cylinders, did the work of building toilets, and did the work of giving food for free." If the work of giving respect rights to all was done, then it was done by the Manik Saha government under the leadership of the Modi government, he further added.

He stated, "In the last five years, we have brought peace to the region. Next year, we will make Tripura prosperous by following the formula, HIRA, given by PM Modi."

Shah will be holding two rallies and a roadshow in Tripura on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Shah paied a visit to Mata Tripura Sundari Temple at around 11 am in Udaipur town of Tripura.

Elections will be held on 60 seats in Tripura on February 16. The counting of votes will be held on March 2. The Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting 55 seats while its partner Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) is contesting five.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held rally in Tripura where he attacked Congress and CPI (M).

Speaking at a rally Ambassa in poll-bound Tripura, PM Modi said, "For decades, rule of Congress and Communists hindered the development of Tripura. BJP govt brought development in Tripura. Violence isn't anymore the identity of Tripura. BJP made state free from fear and violence."

He said that earlier police stations in Tripura were captured by the CPM cadre but now under BJP rule, there's a rule of law in the state. Now, there's women empowerment in the state and there is an ease of living.

"5000 km of roads were built in Tripura to connect its villages. A new airport was also built in Agartala. Optical fibre and 4G connectivity being brought to villages. Now, Tripura is becoming global. We're developing waterways to connect the northeast & Tripura with ports," he added.
