CPI(M) leader Jiban Maitra passes away

Malda (WB), Aug 5: Senior CPI(M) leader and Left Front convener of Malda district, Jiban Maitra, passed away in a nursing home here today following a cerebral attack. Maitra was 71.

He suffered a cerebral attack at his home yesterday and he was taken to the nursing home where he breathed his last at 1.40 PM, CPI(M)'s district secretary Ambar Mitra said.

Maitra, a former state committee member of the CPI(M) and ex-district secretary, left behind a son. His wife predeceased him.
